Comparison of hyperfibrinolysis in trauma and non-trauma patients

چکیده
Methods We conducted an observational, retrospective study in two academic trauma centers from a French university institution. All patients diagnosed with HF on rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) between 2010 and 2014 were included. Demographic and clinical parameters, standard laboratory and ROTEM results were collected. HF diagnosis was established when the 60 minute clot lysis index (CLI60) was below 85% of the maximum clot firmness. HF was classified as fulminant HF (immediate breakdown of the clot within 30 minutes), intermediate HF (breakdown of the clot between 30 and 60 minutes) and late HF (complete clot lysis after more than 60 minutes). Data are expressed as n (%) and median [interquartile range].

Hyperfibrinolysis diagnosed by rotational thromboelastometry (ROTEM) is associated with higher mortality in patients with severe trauma.
BACKGROUND We investigated whether hyperfibrinolysis and its severity was associated with outcome of traumatized and nontraumatized patients. METHODS From April 2008 to April 2010, all emergency patients with hyperfibrinolysis were enrolled in this study. Hyperfibrinolysis patients were divided into traumatized (trauma hyperfibrinolysis group) and nontraumatized (nontrauma hyperfibrinolysis g...

متن کاملHyperfibrinolysis in severe isolated traumatic brain injury may occur without tissue hypoperfusion: a retrospective observational multicentre study
BACKGROUND Hyperfibrinolysis is a critical complication in severe trauma. Hyperfibrinolysis is traditionally diagnosed via elevated D-dimer or fibrin/fibrinogen degradation product levels, and recently, using thromboelastometry. Although hyperfibrinolysis is observed in patients with severe isolated traumatic brain injury (TBI) on arrival at the emergency department (ED), it is unclear which fa...
متن کاملThrombelastography and biomarker profiles in acute coagulopathy of trauma: a prospective study
BACKGROUND Severe injury induces an acute coagulopathy associated with increased mortality. This study compared the Thrombelastography (TEG) and biomarker profiles upon admission in trauma patients. METHODS Prospective observational study of 80 trauma patients admitted to a Level I Trauma Centre. Data on demography, biochemistry including standard coagulation tests, hematology, transfusions, ...
متن کاملComparison of Intra-abdominal Pressure Measurement and Physical Exam for Diagnosis of Surgery Indication in Patients with Abdominal Compartment Syndrome due to Blunt Trauma
Background & Aims: Increase in abdominal pressure can lead to the so-called intra–abdominal compartment syndrome (ACS) that is often observed during the first 24 hours after sever abdominal trauma and surgery. Measurement of the intra abdominal pressure through the bladder as a non-invasive measurement can provide a quick and accurate assessment of abdominal pressure changes. This study was per...
